A rare and moving glimpse into the everyday realities of food insecurity in the UK
Bradford, 30 October 2025-21 February 2026
Tower Hamlets, London 17 October 2025-6 November 2026
Fair Food Futures UK brings together powerful photographs and stories shared by families with children living in Tower Hamlets, London, and Bradford, exploring how communities are responding to the challenges of accessing food and support.
For over a year, three researchers have been embedded in nine community food organisations in Tower Hamlets and Bradford, working alongside local teams and families. Forty families have shared their stories through interviews, photography and video, offering unique insights into how they navigate food insecurity and community support.
In workshops led by photographer Shy Burhan, participants learned how to tell their stories visually, and collaboratively curated the exhibition. Themes include Food Help, Finances and Futures, reflecting both the daily struggles and the resilience of families.
The research is already helping to shape local policy in the two areas, where child poverty levels remain among the highest in the country.
This event will celebrate participants’ contributions and will provide opportunities for residents, community food organisations, council officers and elected representatives to connect.
