Information for Food Support Providers

One in five families cannot regularly access affordable and healthy food in the UK. This is known as food insecurity.

Many organisations in the community provide services which aim to relieve food insecurity. Services offered include food banks, food pantries, community meals, cooking sessions, delivery of food packages, and holiday meals provision for children. Some organisations provide additional services too, such as welfare advice and support with finding employment.

We call these organisations and service providers Community Food Assets (CFAs).

Fair Food Futures UK is research funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research.

We are based in Bradford and Tower Hamlets (London) and we want to find out what support with food and livelihoods families find most helpful.

Fair Food Futures UK is a partnership of different organisations.

Our team includes researchers from University of York and University College London (UCL), people who have experienced food insecurity and staff from Bradford and Tower Hamlets Councils.

In this project we will  listen to community food asset users and people working in voluntary organisations and local authorities to understand how different organisations work together and the role they play in people’s lives. We will also look at how easy it is to access food assets and whether they support everyone in need.

Do you work or volunteer in a community food asset (food bank, community market, food pantry, community garden)?

Do you work in the wider food sector?

Are you passionate about ending food insecurity in your community?

We will regularly upload resources for community food assets on this website, as they become available. In the meantime find out how you can get involved.

We want to build a future where all communities can get easy and fair access to healthy nutritious food.
